Removing Dropbox Error on Teacher Laptops

If staff or students are using Dropbox and get a message they do not have permission to run/use it, they have to do the following:

Click on the Dropbox icon in the Menu bar.
Click on the gear icon (lower right)
Click on Quit

Open Self Service and check in District Software to see if there is an install for Dropbox. Run if it is there. If not there, it means it has already run on the laptop.

Open Dropbox from Applications.

That should take care of the permissions window that keeps popping up.

Increasing Screen Time-out for Macs

THIS IS FOR MAC USERS ONLY

If your reimaged/new laptop is timing out too quickly which means you have to re-enter your computer password, I just put into Casper a package to allow you to change the timeout.
This policy will only run while at school. You will need to restart your computer first and then login.

Go to the Apple icon (upper left corner of your screen)
Click on System Preferences
Click on Energy Saver
If the lock at the bottom left of the window is locked, click on it.
Enter your computer login password
Click Unlock.
In the bar slider labeled, "Turn display off after", you may move the slider to whatever timeout you would like. You have to do this for the Battery setting and the Power Adapter setting.
Please do not set it to Never as that will shorten the life of the display
Click on System Preferences and select Quit System Preferences.

If the above does not work, please open Self Service and run the software package in District Software called Energy Save Unlock.
Then try the above procedure again.

New Macbook Carts

The school now has a total of 7 macbook carts! They are numbered 1-6 (instead of lettering as in previous years). One macbook cart, and the laptops themselves,  are going to remain in the library for use during class by teachers and during study by students.

Macbook Cart #1 has 28 macbooks.  Macbook Carts #2-6 contain 25 brand new macbooks, each.

To reserve a cart (or lab), use the google calendar reservation system.  Calendars have been shared with ms_all.

Macbook Cart Locations:
#1 - Library
#2 - 8th Grade Pit
#3 - Upper Lab
#4 - Upper Lab
#5 - 6th grade Area
#6 - 6th grade Area

Library Macbook Cart - in the Library.  Use the Library Calendar to reserve and/or speak to Sara.

We also have the Dell PC Laptop Cart, which is housed in the Library. It, too, has a google calendar.

Computer Reservation Calendars

Each of the computer labs and laptop carts has its own reservation calendar using Google. BAM will share each of these calendars via email to ms_all. You will see a nested list of emails from waylandmiddle@gmail.com. You must open each email and click on the link in order to see them while logged in to your own google calendar.   If you don't see the link, click on "Show hidden text" in the email.

If you deleted the emails, you can still add the calendars to your account by going directly to the waylandmiddle@gmail account and adding your email address in the share calendar settings.  See BAM for the password to the account.

New feature: you can go to the Computer Reservation Calendar page and click the button and follow the prompts to add calendars to your Wayland Google account.

You are now set to reserve computers from within your own account!
