Removing Dropbox Error on Teacher Laptops

If staff or students are using Dropbox and get a message they do not have permission to run/use it, they have to do the following:

Click on the Dropbox icon in the Menu bar.
Click on the gear icon (lower right)
Click on Quit

Open Self Service and check in District Software to see if there is an install for Dropbox. Run if it is there. If not there, it means it has already run on the laptop.

Open Dropbox from Applications.

That should take care of the permissions window that keeps popping up.

Viewing All of a Students' Work

This information is geared toward teachers using Google Classroom, which automatically adds the student's name to the assignment title,  but it could work for anything shared in Drive, as long as you use a consistent search term.

If you want to see all of the files turned in by a single student in a class regardless of assignment:

If so, here is a simple hack:
1. In Drive, search owner:<student username>, this will only show you files owned by that student.
2. Select/highlight all of the turned in assignments.
3. Click the preview button (eyeball icon)
now just use your right arrow key to quickly browse through the assignments.

Increasing Screen Time-out for Macs

THIS IS FOR MAC USERS ONLY

If your reimaged/new laptop is timing out too quickly which means you have to re-enter your computer password, I just put into Casper a package to allow you to change the timeout.
This policy will only run while at school. You will need to restart your computer first and then login.

Go to the Apple icon (upper left corner of your screen)
Click on System Preferences
Click on Energy Saver
If the lock at the bottom left of the window is locked, click on it.
Enter your computer login password
Click Unlock.
In the bar slider labeled, "Turn display off after", you may move the slider to whatever timeout you would like. You have to do this for the Battery setting and the Power Adapter setting.
Please do not set it to Never as that will shorten the life of the display
Click on System Preferences and select Quit System Preferences.

If the above does not work, please open Self Service and run the software package in District Software called Energy Save Unlock.
Then try the above procedure again.
